Memorable Manitobans: James Edward Terris (1924-2002)Educator. Born at Melville, Saskatchewan in 1924, he was educated locally then enlisted in the Canadian Navy, serving aboard ships in the North Atlantic and English Channel. Returning from military duty, he spent 37 years as a teacher, serving as Principal of Viscount Alexander School (1960-1973). He retired in 1985. He was a long-standing member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Knights of Columbus, and spent many years volunteering with the Christmas Cheer Board.
