Educator, community activist.
Born at New Earswick, North Yorkshire, England on 21 December 1933, she attended Millmont College and received a teaching diploma in 1954. She met John Rippon Taylor (1932-2010) and, after marriage, they moved to Nigeria in 1963 where she taught school and where their third daughter, Sara Margaret Taylor, was born. They moved to Nairobi, Kenya in 1967 where she taught at the Loretta Convent School. In 1969, the family moved to Winnipeg. In September 1980, Sara Taylor was killed by a drunk driver. In response, she started the organization Citizens Against Drunk Driving (CAID) that later became MADD Canada. She was instrumental in the establishment of Safe Grad in Winnipeg. For her community service, she received a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002). She died at Winnipeg on 18 March 2023.
