Journalist.

Born at Winnipeg on 18 April 1908, son of John Francis Sweeney and Agnes Brownlea Dickson, he joined the staff of the Winnipeg Free Press in 1929. He was President of the Winnipeg Press Club (1938). He left the paper in 1942 to work with the Canadian Press then joined the Toronto Globe and Mail, retiring in 1960 as telegraph editor. He died at Toronto, Ontario on 27 June 1966, survived by his wife.
