Memorable Manitobans: Kerry Michael Sveinson (1945-2004)

Farmer, municipal official.

Born at Holland on 22 January 1945, son of Gudmundur Sveinson and Myrtle Blackwell, he attended Cypress Valley School and later Cypress River Consolidated School. He became a farmer at an early age and, while he tried other occupations early on, he was always drawn back to the family farm. He served his community by volunteering on the Cypress River Pool Elevator Board, Cypress River Lodge, and Keystone Agricultural Producers. He also served as a councillor for the Rural Municipality of Argyle and on the board of directors for the Cypress River Credit Union. He was an avid antique collector and loved to travel. He died on 29 May 2004.
