Established around 1878, this community is believed to have been renamed in 1888 for its first postmaster Arthur C. Holland (1823-1894). With the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the area during the early 1880s, the original post office (situated at 28-7-11W) was moved one and a half miles west.
