Memorable Manitobans: James Steedsman (1864-1959)Farmer, MP (1922-1925), MP (1926), MP (1926-1930). Born at Molesworth, Ontario on 24 January 1864, son of William Steedsman and Elizabeth Baird, he attended school in Oxford County, Ontario. On 24 September 1887, he married Lilian Perry. He became a farmer at Deloraine in 1882. He was Vice-President of the Manitoba Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company, Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Winchester (1904), and Director of the Deloraine Milling Company. He was elected to the House of Commons for Souris in 1921, re-elected in 1925 and 1926, defeated in 1930. He died at Winnipeg on 16 March 1959.
