Railwayman.
Born at Rockwood, Ontario on 18 November 1883, son of William W. Sparling and Emily Josephine Louisa Cosford, his working life was spent on railways, serving at Toronto, Sioux Lookout, Port Arthur, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Montreal, and Winnipeg. By the time that he retired in 1948, he was Western Region General Manager for the Canadian National Railway. He and wife Charlotte Robinson (?-1963) had two daughters: Glen Sparling and Betty Sparling. He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 11 December 1969.
