Physician.
Born at Seraphulie, Bengal, India on 12 October 1893, he came to Canada in 1901 with his widowed mother Esther Neville (1869-1944) and settled at Killarney where his mother operated a cottage hospital. They moved to Winnipeg in 1914. He was attending the Manitoba Medical College when, in March 1916, he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He served in France with the Canadian Army Medical Corps and received his military discharge in December 1918.
He returned to Winnipeg and completed his medical training, then practiced medicine at Munson, Alberta for a few years. Eventually, he came back to Winnipeg and, for 15 years, was a doctor for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Deer Lodge Hospital. He also served with the CAMC in the Second World War.
On 29 April 1920, he married newspaper editor Steinunn Jonasina Stefanson in Suite 14 Tremont Apartments and they had one daughter, Ina Margaret Sommerville (?-1983).
He died at the Deer Lodge Hospital on 9 February 1966 and was buried in the St. Vital Cemetery.
