Memorable Manitobans: Joanne Sinkevich (1942-1990)

Dancer.

Born in Grimsby, Ontario, she came to Winnipeg at the age of eight with her parents. She began dancing with the Ukrainian National Youth Federation, and in 1962 founded the Rusalka Dance Ensemble, which she led for most of its first decade. She later moved to Thunder Bay to teach dance. She died in Winnipeg after a long illness.
