Memorable Manitobans: Reid Garry Schindle (1949-2017)

Bodybuilder.

Born at Eriksdale on 27 August 1949, he worked for the Federal Fisheries Department and opened the first Gold’s Gym in Winnipeg. He won the Mr. Manitoba bodybuilding contest in 1975, four consecutive Mr. Canada heavyweight titles (1979-1982), placed second in Mr. North America (1978), and third place in the Mr. Universe contest (1979). He died at Winnipeg on 16 June 2017.
