Memorable Manitobans: William Ross (c1780-1855)Fur trader. Born in Ross-shire, Scotland, around 1780. He joined the Hudson’s Bay Company and was in charge at Oxford House, Nelson House, and at Fort Churchill successively. He died in Ottawa on 12 January 1855.
