Memorable Manitobans: Joseph Faulkner Rogers (1886-1961)Farmer, grain buyer, editor. Born at Plumas on 5 September 1886, youngest son of George F. Rogers (1835-1902) and Hannah Bond (c1840-1925), he graduated from the Manitoba Agricultural College in 1912 then returned to the family farm. He managed the United Grain Growers elevator at Plumas (1923-1951) and, on retirement in 1951, he became editor of the Plumas Standard, serving until shortly before his death. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Lions Club, University of Manitoba Alumni Association, Game and Fish Association, Hudsons Bay Route Association, and Historical and Scientific Society of Manitoba. He served on the board of the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce (1954-1959), Chairman of the Whitemud River Watershed Committee, and a board member for the Gladstone District Hospital.
