Joseph Robinson

Farmer, municipal official.
Born at Hull, England on 18 September 1872, he immigrated to Ontario with his family then came to Carberry in 1891. He later moved to a farm in the Arizona School district where he lived until 1944. On 30 November 1898, he married Sarah Julia Harding (1879-1975) at Carberry and they had three children: Elsie May Robinson (1901-1994, wife of Henry Charles Stanley Hunt), Vera Gertrude Robinson (1905-2004, wife of Edgar Bennett Sager), and Joseph Harvey Robinson (1913-1996).
He served as a councillor for the Municipality of North Norfolk for over 40 years and was its Reeve (1920-1925). He was a member of the Masons (Gothic Lodge No. 75), served as the local weed inspector, and was an agent for the Portage Mutual Insurance Company for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Conservative Party.
He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 16 July 1954 and was buried in the Austin Cemetery.
