Memorable Manitobans: Albert Norton Richards (1822-1897)Lawyer. He was Solicitor-General for Canada West (Ontario) from 1863 to 1864. As Attorney-General in William McDougall’s Council, he accompanied him to the Red River Settleman in 1869 when McDougall attempted to enter that area as Lieutenant-Governor of Rupert’s Land. He went to British Columbia in 1871 where he became Lieutenant-Governor in 1876. Richards died at Victoria, BC on 6 March 1897.
