Journalist.
Born at Winnipeg around 1965, younger of two daughters of Sylvia Elaine Kemila (c1940-2020) and Gerald Wayne “Gerry” Philipps (1938-2013), she grew up in the Fort Richmond neighbourhood and received a BA degree from the University of Winnipeg, where she was editor of the Uniter newspaper. After university she worked in Vancouver, British Columbia for several years where, in 1995, she met her future wife Virginia McKee, whom she married in 2007. She returned to Winnipeg as the founding editor of Swerve, the city’s first gay and lesbian newspaper. She died on 27 February 2009.
