Memorable Manitobans: Dudley Armand Paterson (1914-2003)
Radio broadcaster. Born at Winnipeg on 24 July 1914, third son of George Paterson (1885-?) and Anna Saidler (1887-?), after leaving school he worked as an oil field worker, taxi driver, and railwayman. During the Second World War, he joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers. Upon discharge, he began a career in broadcasting at the old CKY radio station at Winnipeg and later as Station Manager of CJGX at Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He then returned to CJOB where he stayed for the next 44 years. On 29 October 1937, he married Angela Kathleen “Nellie” Krupa (1912-1990) at Winnipeg and they had four daughters and a son. After retirement, he and his wife moved to McCreary around 1987. He died at McCreary on 4 February 2003 and was buried in the McCreary Cemetery.
