Cleric, educator.
Born at Parisville, Quebec on 17 December 1913 to Eveline Hamel and Arthur Paris, he began preparation for the priesthood at Ville LaSalle on 21 July 1935 and pronounced his perpetual vows on 8 September 1938 at Ottawa. He was ordained as a priest on 29 June 1940 in Lebret, Saskatchewan. Education was the field to which he devoted himself as professor, then student himself.
During his more than 40 years as an educator, he obtained a BA and Masters degrees in Ottawa, degrees in French literature and French culture and language at the Sorbonne in France, and a Diploma in Education in modern languages at Laval and Philadelphia.
Among the activities that characterized him, he was National President of the Catholic Parents and Teachers Association of Canada; board member of the Canadian Association of Educators in the French language, also founding the Association in Saskatchewan; the founder and director of the monthly newsletter Foyer-école; and a school visitor on behalf of the Association culturelle franco-canadienne de la Saskatchewan. In 1985, he retired at St. Boniface doing pastoral work part-time. In 2005, he celebrated his 70th anniversary of religious life and his 65th year of priesthood.
He died at Winnipeg on 15 October 2005 and was buried in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
