Memorable Manitobans: Henry Newmarch (1858-?)

Merchant.

Born Peshawur, India, 17 August 1858, son of Colonel Henry F. Newmarch (Commissioner, Indian Civil Service, Colonel in English Army), and Elizabeth Newmarch. Educated London, England. Commenced career in English Civil Service, London, England, 1875. Came to Manitoba, 1880, and to British Columbia, 1901. School trustee and Justice of the Peace. Married Kate Adelaide Thomas, Whitewood, Sask., has four sons and two daughters. Society: AF & AM.

In 1911, Newmarch was a partner in the firm of Newmarch, Cooper & Company, 167 Pender Street West, Vancouver.
