Newspaper editor and proprietor.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 1882, son of James Munro and Eliza Barron. Married Ellen Jack of Dumferline (deceased). Married Janet Lyon, 1906. Has three daughters and a son. Apprenticed to the printing trade, Central News Company of Edinburgh, (five years); worked in England at Liverpool, Cheshire; London; came to Canada, 1904; worked as a stone-cutter in Toronto (Roman Stone Company); worked for a year in Port Arthur; came to The Pas, Manitoba, 1910 with Herman Finger Milling Company. In company with H. De Tremaudan, started the Hudson’s Bay Herald; get out the first edition of the paper and has always been connected with it; purchased the plant from the late Grant Rice and is today sole owner and editor: it possesses one of the most up-to-date printing offices in the West. He was a member of Weekly Newspaper Association of Canada. Member, Manitoba Press Club. Member, The Pas Board of Trade. Ex-Member, Pas Council. Member, Oddfellows, Past Noble Grand, The Pas Lodge No. 86. Joined Canadian Expeditionary Force, 79th Cameron Highlanders, 1915; overseas, 1916; France, 1917, 43rd Battalion; Passchendaele, Arras, Last Hundred Days. He is an active member of the GWVA. Played football with Junior Scottish. Played in England with London and Cheshire County. Recreations: Curling and football. Address The Herald, The Pas, Manitoba.
