Memorable Manitobans: Weston Montgomery (1871-1934)

Hardware and furniture merchant.

Born in Quebec in 1871, son of John Montgomery and Jane M. Walker, he came to Manitoba with his parents at an early age, and settled at Stonewall in 1878 where his father was a blacksmith and hardware merchant. Weston joined his father as a clerk and took over the business on his father's death in 1889. In 1905 he married Georgina Watson (?-?) of Stonewall. He was a member of the Masons, IOOF, COF, and Loyal Orange Lodge. He served as president of the Stonewall Board of Trade, and Mayor of Stonewall (1906-1907, 1917-1920, 1930-1931). He died at Stonewall on 10 October 1934.
