Broadcasting executive.
Born at Regina, Saskatchewan around 1909, son of J. L. Moffat, he began a career in broadcasting by starting 25-watt radio station IOBI (later, CKBI) at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He started radio station CKY at Winnipeg in 1950. He was President of Moffat Broadcasting which operated radio station CKY in Winnipeg and CKLG in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was also President of radio station CHED in Edmonton, Alberta, Vice-President and Secretary of the Winnipeg private television station CJAY-TV, and a director of the CTV national television network. He and wife Clara A. Moffat (1907-1979) had two children. He was a Khartum Shriner. He lived at 414 Kelvin Boulevard, Winnipeg. He died while vacationing in Hawaii on 9 March 1964 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
