Memorable Manitobans: Frederick Clarence McNaughton (1892-1973)

Businessman.

Born at Winnipeg on 9 May 1892, the son of Charles Hosmer McNaughton and Margaret Ellen “Maggie” Cairns McNaughton (1860-1932), he was living at Warren at the time of his father’s death in 1932. As per his fathers estate, he received 300 preferred shares in the Arctic Ice Company and the balance of shares remaining after his estate was settled. He would later become President and owner of the business. He married Elizabeth Margaret “Bessie” McFee (1905-1961, daughter of Donald C. McFee) on 24 November 1934 at Winnipeg and had two children: Rodrick Donald McNaughton (?-2010) and Diane Elizabeth McNaughton (wife of Kingsley Arnett Bowles, the son of Richard Spink Bowles). At the time of his death, he resided at Suite 806-800 Corydon Avenue. He died at the Grace Hospital on 25 December 1973 and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
