Cleric.
Born at Winnipeg on 4 October 1918 to Mary Irene Laing (1891-1981) and Robert Eldridge McLeod (1888-1962), he entered Baptist ministry while in his 20s. His first pastorate was at a small church in Rosthern, Saskatchewan. While there, he married Barbara Marie “Babs” Robinson (1923-2021) on 3 January 1942, and they went on to have six children. They lived in cramped and the most rudimentary of accommodations while he earned a salary of $30 a month. Following that, he became a circuit pastor at Strathclair Baptist Church, Shoal Lake Baptist Church, and Birtle Baptist Church (1944-1945).
While living at Shoal Lake in 1945, he joined the Shantymen's Christian Association, which took him away from his growing family for days at a time as he ministered in logging camps. In 1953, he moved on to a posting at Tabor Baptist Chapel in Transcona. He also served a brief stint as the district superintendent of 40 churches scattered over 1000 miles. In 1962, he began ministry at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. As a member of the Canadian Revival Fellowship, and later Life Action Ministry, he traveled in Canada and abroad for many years, accompanied by his wife, to places that included India, South America, The Philippines, Australia, and Scotland.
Throughout the years, he was instrumental in establishing several Bible camps, including Bird River Bible Camp in Manitoba and Nemieben Lake Wilderness Camp in Saskatchewan, and also served as the director of each camp.
He died at Winnipeg on 28 July 2012 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
