Farmer, seed grower.
Born at Neepawa on 18 February 1919, son of ? McIntyre and Mary McDarland, his early childhood was spent at Kelwood. He completed his formal education at Elphinstone School then he farmed and was a pedigreed seed grower near Elphinstone, receiving several prizes for his work. His wheat received the Royal Bank trophic at the Brandon Winter Fair (1956) and his rye grass seed received first prize at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair at Toronto (1973).
He served as a director (four years) and President (two years) of the Manitoba Seed Growsers' Association. He was a director and provincial president of the Canadia Seed Growers' Association for eight years. He served on the Elphinstone School Board for 18 years, 15 of them as Chairman. He was secretary for the local board of Manitoba Pool Elevators (38 years) and a board member for the local Presbyterian church.
On 22 July 1950, he married Eileen Laycock and they had a son and a daughter. In 1992, he retired to Brandon but continued to spend summers at Elphinstone.
He died at the Brandon General Hospital on 10 July 1994 and was buried in the Bend Cemetery. He was inducted posthumously to the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame (2011).
