Memorable Manitobans: John Roland McCurdy (1923-2007)Educator, school inspector. Born on the family farm south of Nesbitt in 1923, son of John McCurdy (1871-1937) and Beatrice Frances Halls (1884-?), he received an Education diploma from the University of Manitoba in 1947. He was the Principal of Deloraine School (1954-1961) then, in 1961, was appointed a Manitoba School Inspector, based at Flin Flon, serving until at least 1971. He and wife Dorothy (?-?) had four daughters and a son. He died at Calgary, Alberta on 22 February 2007 and was buried in the Deloraine Cemetery.
