Lawyer.
Born at Transcona on 30 December 1944, son of Alfred and Dorothy Mayer, he received a law degree from the University of Manitoba. He moved to Thompson in 1969 where he practiced law for the rest of his life, being recognized as the longest-serving lawyer in northern Manitoba, and being appointed a Queen’s Counsel. An active supporter of the New Democratic Party, he served on the Provincial Executive for over 30 years, including two terms as President. He served on the Thompson city council for several years, and was a member of the board for Manitoba Telephone System, Public Utilities Board, and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries. He died at Thompson on 5 April 2016.
