Memorable Manitobans: John Matheson (1837-1909)Farmer. Born at Kildonan parish and baptized at the Red River Anglican Church on 18 July 1837, he was the eldest son of Angus Matheson and his wife, Margaret, who had arrived at Kildonan in 1823. He married a daughter of Duncan McRae of St. Andrew’s, pioneer stone mason. He farmed in Kildonan and St. Paul’s parishes and in the Rural Municipality of Springfield for several years.
