Memorable Manitobans: Robert Madill (1833-1921)Pioneer. Born in County Monaghan, Ireland in 1833, he came to Canada in 1852 and to Manitoba in 1877. He settled at Palestine (Gladstone) then, in 1879, he was one of the first settlers in the Murchison district around Riding Mountain. He died in the Rural Municipality of Minto on 16 July 1921 and was buried in the Boyd Cemetery. Sources:Death registration, Manitoba Vital Statistics.
