Sheet metal manufacturer.
Born at Sunny Brae, Nova Scotia on 18 July 1894, son of Edward MacDonald, brother of James Daniel “Jim” MacDonald and Duncan Robert Grant MacDonald, he came to Winnipeg and was working with his brothers in the MacDonald Brothers Sheet Metal and Roofing Company when he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. After the war, the brothers established the MacDonald Brothers Aircraft Company.
On 29 September 1926, he married Margaret Lovette Ross (1898-1966) at Augustine United Church and they had a son, Edwin Ross MacDonald (1927-2022). The family lived at 184 Ash Street, Winnipeg. He was a member of the Masons (Assiniboine Lodge). He died at Winnipeg on 27 February 1969 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
