Businessman.
Born at Winnipeg in 1928 to Laurie Adelaide Weir (1892-1982) and Frank Daniel MacCharles (1886-1982), he graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1949. After several years working with Imperial Oil, he moved back to Winnipeg, where in 1960 he married Cynthia Helen Sinclair (1936-2013), with whom he went on to have two children. After becoming involved in various business ventures, he operated Airmaster Sales Limited, a Winnipeg manufacturing business, for 25 years, then sold it to his sons.
His true passion was golf and he spent most of his leisure time at St. Charles Country Club. Besides participating in the sport, he volunteered on the board and eventually served as club captain. He held the position of President of the Manitoba Golf Association (1998-1999) and was a member of the Manitoba Senior Provincial Team. In the winter, he enjoyed skiing, playing squash at the Winnipeg Winter Club and Winnipeg Squash Club, and taking golf vacations.
He died at Winnipeg on 23 June 2005.
