Memorable Manitobans: George Lysak (1932-2021)

Educator.

Born on 20 August 1932, he was raised on the family farm near Broad Valley. He taught at Moose Bay School (1950-1951), Adam School (1952-1953), Leeland School (1954-1955), and High Plains School (1957-1960) before arriving at Ardal School in 1961, working there until the new Arborg Elementary School was built, and serving as its Principal until retirement in 1987. In 1954, he married Helen Chuba (1933-1982) and they had two daughters. He subsequently married Audrey Pich and they moved to Stonewall in 1987 where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He died at Stonewall on 16 November 2021 and was buried in the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Cemetery.
