Grain merchant.
Born in Iceland on 17 July 1884, he moved to the North West Territories as a child and, in 1910, entered the grain business as a partner in the Columbia Grain Company. Later, in partnership with Peter Anderson, he formed the North West Commission Company. After the Second World War, he moved to Toronto, Ontario to help his son establish a lumber business. A few years later, he retired to California.
On 22 March 1920, he married Sigrun Ingibjorg Helgason at Winnipeg and they had six children: Pearl Lindal (c1921-?, wife of ? Powers), Violet Anna Lindal (1922-?, wife of Robert J. Hamilton), Hannes Lindal (c1928-1971), Gaylord Lindal (1931-2019), and twins who died in infancy (1920). He died at his home in Santa Monica, California on 30 January 1957 and was buried locally in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
