Memorable Manitobans: Marie Carmelie Armandine Desautels Laflamme (1891-1971)

Educator.

Born in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie on 18 January 1891, daughter of Leontine Rajeotte (1868-?) and Edouard Desautels (1862-?), she attended teacher training and taught at Vermette School (1913-1914), St. Charles School (1914-1915, Principal), St. Hyacinthe School [La Salle School] (1915-1918), and St. Francois de Sales School (1922). On 30 September 1918, she married Joseph Onesime Laflamme (?-1959) at Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne. She died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 27 December 1971 and was buried in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
