Railwayman, athlete.
Born at Winnipeg on 5 January 1917 to Albertus William Kubas (1881-1953) and Eva Rogowski (1886-1959), he was a member of the Military Naval Services as a young man, then became employed with Canadian Pacific Railway, where he retired at the age of 64. His main interest was sports, which included bowling, hockey, and baseball. He played for the Globelite Batteries championship team (1944-1947) and also for the Northern Hotel/Legion 141 Champions (1950-1954). In 2005, he was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame. His greatest passion in life was golf. For 50 years, he was a dedicated member of the St. Boniface Golf Club, resulting in being a Manitoba Senior Champion six times. He had one son. He died at Winnipeg on 19 September 2006 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
