Memorable Manitobans: Peter W. Kripky (1926-2020)
Educator.
Born at Meacham, Saskatchewan on 24 June 1926, son of John and Helen Kripki, his childhood was spent on the family farm. After graduating from the Meacham High School, he attended the Saskatoon Normal School and began a teaching career in the fall of 1944, spending 25 years in Saskatchewan and 25 years in Portage la Prairie before retirement in 1994, including service as the Principal of Arthur Meighen High School (1969-1974). While teaching, he obtained BA and BEd degrees from the University of Saskatchean and an MEd degree from the University of Manitoba. He served as President of the Portage Rotary Club (1976). He moved to Brandon in 2009 and died there on 8 June 2020.
