Memorable Manitobans: Joseph Barry “J.B.” Hughes (1928-2000)
Lawyer.
Born at Winnipeg on 13 February 1928, son of Harley Moody Hughes and Doris Anne Garland (1902-1980), he practiced in Winnipeg as a lawyer and was made a Queen's Counsel in 1967. He and wife Chickie had six children, including Joseph Bradley “Brad” Hughes. He died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 8 April 2000 and was buried in the St. Vital Cemetery.
