Municipal official.
Born at Ipswich, England around 1897, he served with the 88th Field Ambulance during the First World War and was gassed in France in 1916. He and his wife Elizabeth Burman (c1895-1980) came to Canada in 1923 where he was employed by the Ford Motor Company, McDonald Aircraft Company, and the Department of National Defence. They moved to Charleswood in 1927, had a daughter, Dorothy M. Hayward (1928-2017), and he became active in local government as a municipal councillor for 24 years, Reeve (1959-1960), and Mayor (1960-1963). He was a member of the Masons (Scottish Rite), Khartum Shriners, and St. Mary Anglican Church. He was a founder of the Varsity View Community Club. He died at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on 12 August 1974 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
