Municipal official.
Born at Pine Falls on 26 February 1939, son of Charles Harbottle (?-1964) and Cordelia Isabelle Martel (1900-1987), he lived in Pine Falls until the age of seven when his family moved to St. Georges where his parents opened a café. He attended school at St. George, the St. Joseph College at Otterburne (1954-1956), and St. Paul’s College in Winnipeg (1957).
From 1957 to 1962, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force then he was Secretary-Treasurer for the Village of Powerview from 1963 to 1968, and Director of Economic Development for the Manitoba Indian Brotherhood from 1971. He was Secretary for the Village of Powerview from 1983 to 1988 then he operated an insurance agency until 1998.
He also served as a local magistrate and, from 1998 to 2010, was the Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Alexander. He also was the Eastern Rural Director for the Association of Manitoba Municipalities, and was made a lifetime member in November 2011. He was a Liberal candidate for the Lac du Bonnet constituency in a 2000 provincial by-election.
He died at Pinawa on 5 February 2012.
