Memorable Manitobans: Arthur Thomas “Tom” Hainsworth (1901-1977)
Municipal official. Born near Deloraine on 2 May 1901, son of Arthur Hainsworth and Annie Lane Richard, he served as a Councillor and Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Winchester for several years and President of the Union of Manitoba Municipalities in 1966 and 1967. He also served as President of the the Deloraine Agricultural Society and the Deloraine Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Deloraine Hospital Board, Trustee of the Deloraine School Board, Vice-Chairman of Bren-Del-Win Lodge, and a member of the local United Grain Growers (Secretary), Manitoba Good Roads Association, PFAA Board of Review, Turtle Mountain Resource Conservation Board, and Westman Advisory Board. He received a Manitoba Good Citizenship Award in 1973, and was inducted into the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame.
