Memorable Manitobans: Agnes Howland Conly Hadden (1886-1983)Educator. Born at Toronto, Ontario on 1 June 1886, to Irish immigrant parents, in 1907 she married William Hadden and settled on a farm at Springside, Saskatchewan. They moved to Winnipeg in 1918. Her husband died at a young age, in 1929, after which she worked in a variety of jobs until retirement in 1961. She received a Manitoba Centennial Medal from the Manitoba Historical Society for her “contribution as a teacher in Indian Schools and other establishments over a period of many years.” She died at Dryden, Ontario on 12 December 1983 and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
