Memorable Manitobans: William “Bill” Guest (1928-1985)

Broadcaster.

Born at Sioux Lookout, Ontario on 15 April 1928, his broadcasting career began at radio station CKPR at Fort William (now Thunder Bay), Ontario in September 1945. He moved to Winnipeg in 1948 to work at CKRC for 10 years. He joined CBC Manitoba in 1958 where he spent the next 26 years until retirement in August 1984. He hosted Reach For The Top, Calling All Children, Information Radio, and other programs. He died suddenly at the Victoria Hospital on 25 June 1985, survived by his wife Ethel and their son.
