Memorable Manitobans: Katherine Jean Fulton Gray (1911-1977)

Educator.

Born on a farm in the RM of Westbourne on 17 March 1911, daughter of David B. Fulton and Ethel Feathers, she moved to southeastern Manitoba where she taught at Golden Branch School (1929-1930) before her marriage, on 21 November 1932, to local farmer Ross L. Gray, at Winnipeg. They had three sons. She returned to teaching after marriage, and worked at Sprague School (1951-1958), and was the Principal of Sprague School (1961-1964). She moved to Winnipeg in 1964 where she continued teaching until retirement in 1975. She later moved to White Rock, British Columbia where she died in an automobile accident near her home on 15 April 1977. She was buried at White Rock.
