Cleric, community activist.
Born at Beveren-Leie, Belgium on 3 October 1930, he joined the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1949 and, in 1955, was ordained as a priest. In 1956, he went to the Canadian Arctic as a missionary and worked with local people to develop co-operatives. His work in development of co-operatives was recognized in 1980 by induction into the Order of Canada. That year, he left the priesthood, married, and moved to Yellowknife, North West Territories. He moved to Winnipeg in 1985 where he continued to work until retirement in 1990. He served on the boards of the Red River Co-op, Boni Co-op, Manitoba Co-op Council, LITE, and Development and Peace. His community service was recognized with a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). He died at Winnipeg on 9 April 2021.
