G. Richard Goodwin

Journalist.
Born at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1923, he began a career in journalism at the London Free Press in 1947. He subsequently worked at the Calgary Herald (1949-1961), Medicine Hat News (1961-1964), and Winnipeg Tribune (1964-1981) where he held the positions of News Editor, Managing Editor, Executive Editor, and Ombudsman. He served as President of the Winnipeg Press Club (1976). At the time of the paper’s closure in 1980, he was an editorial page writer. He was supposed to become publisher of the Medicine Hat News when he died at his Winnipeg home on 2 March 1981. He was buried at Burnaby, British Columbia.
