Memorable Manitobans: Aimé Gauthier (1926-2005)

Municipal official.

He was born in Manitoba on 29 October 1926 to Edna Eva Rivard (1906-1996) and Armand “John” Gauthier (1902-1978). In 1946, he married Irene Tardiff (1929-2004), with whom he had three children. He was devoted to serving his community and was involved with the Caisse Populaire in St. Boniface for many years. When he retired, he and his wife moved to St. Laurent. He was the Reeve of the Municipality of St. Laurent (1989-1998) and served on the board of the Caisse Populaire in Elie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time with his family at Twin Beaches on Lake Manitoba. He died on 2 June 2005 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
