Farmer.
Born on 4 July 1828, son of William Garrioch and Nancy Cook, grandson of William Hemmings Cook, around 1851 he married Mary Brown (1833-1900, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Brown) and they eventually had twelve children. Initially, they held land near St. Peter's Parish but, by 1853, had joined a group of settlers who established a new church at St. Mary's la Prairie. On 1 March 1870, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Assiniboia. He relocated to the Kinosota settlement on Lake Manitoba where he was living at the time of the 1906 census. He died at Kinosota on 7 February 1916 and was buried in the St. Bede’s Anglican Cemetery.
