Memorable Manitobans: Abram M. Friesen (1909-2002)Cleric, broadcaster. Born at Reinfeld on 2 July 1909, son of John and Maria Friesen, he was an ordained minister in the Rudnerweidner Church, an avid hockey and ball player, and a lover of music and singing. He founded the Winkler Gospel Mission and broadcast on KFGO Radio and later produced a television broadcast from Valley City, North Dakota. He moved to Winnipeg where he telecast “Happy Home” for 25 years and made cassettes and videos for people who requested them. He died on 3 September 2002 and was buried in the Rosenbach Cemetery.
