Cleric.
Born in Hungary on 15 February 1905, son of Andrew Friebert (?-1928) and Annie Friebert (?-1951), he received a primary education there. In 1921, when the southern portion of the country was annexed to Serbia to become Yugoslavia, he served two years in the Yugoslav Army. There, he worked as a harness maker and obtained some secondary education. In 1928, he immigrated to Canada and worked for two years as a section hand on the Canadian National Railway.
In 1930, he moved to Winnipeg and joined the Hungarian Reformed Church where he expressed a desired to enter the ministry for the United Church of Canada. He was accepted by the Winnipeg Presbytery and, ten years later, having learned the English language and Protestant theology, he was ordained in June 1941 in Augustine United Church.
He served at Tilston United Church (1941-1944), Hartney United Church (1944-1951), Cardale United Church (1951-1954), Oak River (1954-1961), and Dugald (1961-1972). While teaching at Tilston, he also taught at Stonehill School (1942). After retirement in 1972, he assisted at Memorial United Church and was a member of its choir. On 28 July 1931, he married Helen Szaboszloi (1910-1981) at Winnipeg and they had a daughter. He was a member of the Masons.
He died at Havelock, Ontario on 8 March 1989 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
