Memorable Manitobans: Patrick Thomas “Pat” Flynn (1948-2012)

Journalist.

Born at Winnipeg on 12 May 1948, son of Patrick and Georgina Flynn, his family relocated many times, spending many years at Victoria, British Columbia. After high school, he held several jobs until 1972 when he began a career in journalism as a reporter at the Winnipeg Tribune where he was known for his flair and accuracy. When the newspaper closeded in 1980, he and several others moved started the Winnipeg Sun. In 1981, he joined the Winnipeg Free Press as Night City Editor and later became City Editor, Night News Editor, Deputy Editor, and finally Travel Editor. He took early retirement in 2010 but continued to edit and write on a contract basis. He died on 3 April 2012.
