Memorable Manitobans: William Edwin Ellerby (1868-1931)

Curler.

Born at Weston, Ontario on 14 November 1868, where he was a noted lacrosse and soccer player, he came to Winnipeg and worked for the James Robertson Company. He took up curling, became a member of the Thistle Curling Club (President, 1910-1911), and served on the executive of the Manitoba Curling Association. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows (Manitoba Lodge No. 1), Ancient Order of United Workmen, and Fort Rouge United Church. He died at Winnipeg on 15 December 1931.
